Der im Herzen des grünen Périgord gelegene Miallet-Stausee wurde zwischen 1988 und 1992 angelegt, um den Niedrigwasserabfluss der Flüsse Côle und Dronne zu unterstützen und so die Bewässerung des Getreideanbaus zu ermöglichen.
Im Jahr 1998 wurde der Standort zum Espace naturel sensible (ENS) erklärt. Über seine ursprüngliche Bestimmung hinaus ermöglicht er den Schutz von Wasserlebewesen und die regelmäßige Anwesenheit von sesshaften oder ziehenden Wasservögeln.
Mit einem etwa 8 km langen Weg ( PDIPR ) rund um den Stausee ist der Staudamm ein Ort für Spaziergänge und pädagogische Ausflüge (Interpretationspfad, ornithologisches Observatorium, ...)
