In der Nähe der Valentré-Brücke befindet sich diese ehemalige Wasserpumpstation aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, in der die ursprüngliche Maschinerie erhalten geblieben ist. Sie wurde zu einem Ort der Interpretation über Cahors und sein Land umgestaltet.
Sie beherbergt Dauer- und Wechselausstellungen zum Thema Wasser.

In Frankreich werden durchschnittlich 146 Liter Wasser pro Person und Tag verbraucht.
Weltweit haben fast 2 Milliarden Menschen keinen Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser.
Das Maison de l'eau ist das erste Trinkwasserwerk der Stadt Cahors, das in einen Empfangs- und Ausstellungsbereich umgewandelt wurde, und bietet mit "De l'eau pour tous" (Wasser für alle) einen Überblick über das Wasser auf der Erde.
