Jh. erbaut und 1634 an den Prinzen von Condé verkauft, der es restaurieren und möblieren ließ. Jh. diente es als Rathaus und wurde dann an M. Barouet, einen Liebhaber und Sammler, verkauft, der einen großen Teil der Skulpturen und Möbel entfernte.
Von 1865 bis 1954 wurde es von der Feilenfabrik Proutat genutzt.
Hier wurden Feilen von Hand gehauen und Präzisionsfeilen für die Mechanik, die Uhrmacherei, die Schmuckherstellung, das Schneiden und die Zahnheilkunde hergestellt. Sie war eine der besten Feilenfabriken des 19. Jahrhunderts, in der es "eine Feile für jeden Beruf" gab. Sie beschäftigte bis zu 400 Personen.
In diesem Gebäude war von den 1960er Jahren bis 2019 ein Centre Professionnel Éducatif untergebracht.
Seit Juli 2022 ist das Château d'Arnay ein Restaurant.
