Landes Atlantique Sud verfügt über 30 km Sandstrände und damit auch über kilometerlange Dünen.
Die Dünen sind von Natur aus beweglich und werden auf natürliche Weise von Sand, Wind und Pflanzen geformt. Die Dünenkette wird heute weitgehend geschützt, insbesondere durch das Office National des Forêts. Die Verwaltung des ONF , die sich stark für den Erhalt der Artenvielfalt einsetzt, verwendet eine Bewirtschaftungsmethode, die natürliche Prozesse (Wind, Pflanzendynamik...) nutzt, um den Sand einzufangen.
Die Düne ist ein empfindlicher Lebensraum und unsere letzte Verteidigung gegen Küstenerosion und Meeresüberflutung.
Also verwöhnen wir sie, bewundern sie, pflegen sie und vor allem respektieren wir sie.
