Landes Atlantique Sud heeft 30 km fijne zandstranden en niet minder dan enkele kilometers duinen.
De duinen aan de kust zijn natuurlijk gevormd door het zand, de wind en de planten. Tegenwoordig wordt de duinengordel grotendeels beschermd, met name door het Office National des Forêts. Het beheer van het ONF, met het oog op het behoud van de biodiversiteit, maakt namelijk gebruik van een beheersmethode waarbij natuurlijke processen (wind, plantendynamiek, enz.) worden gebruikt om het zand vast te houden.
Het duin is een kwetsbaar natuurlijk milieu en het is ons laatste bastion tegen de verschijnselen van kusterosie en zeedompeling.
Daarom vertroetelen we het, bewonderen we het, verzorgen we het en respecteren we het vooral.
