Elisabeth, die älteste von 11 Kindern und Tochter von Georges EPPINGER, einem Landwirt, und Barbe VOGT, erblickte am 9. September 1814 in diesem Haus das Licht der Welt. Elisabeth EPPINGER besuchte nur wenige Jahre lang die Schule, zeigte aber schon früh eine tiefe persönliche Frömmigkeit. Sie hatte eine schwache Gesundheit, war oft krank und ans Bett gefesselt, doch ihre Leiden halfen ihr, sich auf die Erfüllung ihrer Mission vorzubereiten. Sie hatte nur einen Traum, nämlich Nonne zu werden, um Kranken und Armen zu helfen, Waisen aufzunehmen und ihnen eine Ausbildung zu ermöglichen.
