Der Weiler Waldeck, der zur Gemeinde Eguelshardt gehört, liegt am Fuße der Ruinen der gleichnamigen Burg. Das Gut Waldeck wurde bereits im Jahr 960 erwähnt, jedoch noch nicht seine Burg, die gegen Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts erbaut wurde. Im Laufe seiner Geschichte gelangt es in den Besitz verschiedener Herrschaften.
Im Jahr 1605 wurden in der Region Grenzsteine aufgestellt, um die neue Grenze zwischen dem Herzogtum Lothringen und der Grafschaft Hanau zu markieren. Einige dieser Grenzsteine sind heute noch zu sehen, unweit des Weilers Waldeck am Rande der Hanauer Waldstraße.
