Im Jahr 1543 führten die Barone von Fleckenstein, die das Dorf seit 1359 besaßen, die Reformation in allen Gemeinden des Uffrieds ein. Nach dem Aussterben der männlichen Linie durch den Tod von Heinrich Jakob von Fleckenstein im Jahr 1720 beschloss König Ludwig XV., alle Rechte an die Prinzen Rohan-Soubise zu übertragen, die das Lehen bis zur Revolution von 1789 behielten.
