Die Snickelways von York, oft falsch geschrieben als Snickleways, sind eine Ansammlung von kleinen Straßen und Fußwegen in der Stadt York, England. Das Wort Snickelway wurde 1983 von dem lokalen Autor Mark W. Jones in seinem Buch A Walk Around the Snickelways of York geprägt und ist ein Portmanteau der Wörter snicket, was einen Durchgang zwischen Wänden oder Zäunen bedeutet, ginnel, ein enger Durchgang zwischen oder durch Gebäude, und alleyway, eine schmale Straße oder Gasse. Obwohl das Wort ein Neologismus ist, wurde es schnell Teil des lokalen Wortschatzes und wurde sogar in offiziellen Ratsdokumenten verwendet, beispielsweise bei der Bekanntgabe von temporären Fußwegsperrungen.
