Gort ist eine Ortschaft im Süden des County Galway in der Republik Irland, zwischen Loughrea und Ennis gelegen. Obwohl An Gort heute der offizielle irische Name des Ortes ist, hat sich im Sprachgebrauch die traditionelle Bezeichnung Gort Inse Guaire durchgesetzt. Beim Census 2016 lebten in Gort 2994 Menschen. Der Ort liegt direkt an der Nationalstraße N18 zum County Clare, die von Galway nach Limerick führt. In östlicher Richtung verbindet ihn die Regionalstraße N353/N352 mit Portumna am Lough Derg. Gort gehörte einst zum Königreich Uí Fiachrach Aidhne, auch als Maigh Aidhne bekannt, einem Gebiet, das dem der heutigen Diözese von Kilmacduagh entspricht.
