Asti ist eine Stadt in Nordwest-Italien mit 75.528 Einwohnern . Sie liegt in der Region Piemont und ist das Verwaltungszentrum der Provinz Asti.
Asti wurde 89 v. Chr. als römische Kolonie mit dem Namen Hasta gegründet. Bereits im 5. Jahrhundert wurde Asti Bischofssitz und damit zur wichtigsten Stadt des Piemont. Im 16. Jahrhundert fiel Asti an das Haus Savoyen. Im Jahr 1797 wurde die Republik ausgerufen und Asti später unter französischer Vorherrschaft zur Hauptstadt des Départements Tanaro.
