Alessandria ist eine Stadt in der italienischen Region Piemont mit 93.634 Einwohnern . Sie ist die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz.
Die Stadt liegt etwa 70 Kilometer östlich von Turin in der oberen Poebene auf einer Meereshöhe von 95 Metern am Ufer des Flusses Tanaro, nahe der Einmündung der Flüsse Bormida und Belbo. Der Stadtkern liegt auf der rechten Seite des Flusses.
