Zweimal im Jahr findet auf der Piazza del Camp der Palio delle Contrade statt, ein Pferderennen , das den Höhepunkt des Jahres in Siena darstellt. Es ist ein Kampf zwischen den siebzehn verschiedenen Bezirken der Stadt. Das Rennen dauert insgesamt nur 3 Runden und zwischen 70 und 90 Sekunden . Aber die Rituale und Pre-Workouts dauern eine Woche.
Während dieser großartigen Veranstaltung füllt sich die Piazza del Campo mit Dorfbewohnern und Touristen, die ihr Lieblingsviertel anfeuern. Den Rest des Jahres über ist der Platz der ideale Ort, um einen Drink und eine Kleinigkeit mit herrlichem Blick auf den Palazzo Pubblico und den Torre del Mangia zu genießen.
