Der Park liegt entlang der Zijlsingel zwischen dem Zijlpoort und dem Gelände der ehemaligen Meelfabriek. Er ist nur über einige Brücken über die Binnenoostsingel zu erreichen, einem Teil des noch vorhandenen inneren Festungsgrabens auf der Stadtseite. Der Park wurde in einer rekonstruierten traditionellen Festungswallform mit einer doppelten Reihe von Kastanien als Uferbepflanzung angelegt.
