Im September 2014 wurde Beesel zum grünsten Dorf der Niederlande gekürt. Die Jury lobte Beesel als Dorf mit einer außergewöhnlich schönen Landschaft. Die Landschaft enthält viel seltene Natur. Ein dichtes Netz von Freizeitwegen macht die Gemeinde zu einer grünen Perle. Beesel eignet sich daher hervorragend zum Mauern und Radfahren. Der Rest der Welt, einschließlich des Brachterwaldes und der Stadt Bru ̈geen, ist ebenfalls bequem in der Nähe.
