Kennst du die Tuunwallenlandschaft auf Texel? Tuunwal ist ein Dialektwort, das oft als "Gartenwall" übersetzt wird. Früher wurde die Tuunwal kurzweg Tuun genannt, wobei Tuun nicht "Garten", sondern "Grenzlinie" bedeutete. Seit dem 20. Jahrhundert ist es für Landwirte günstiger geworden, eine Einzäunung aus Pfählen und Stacheldraht zu errichten. Dies hat dazu geführt, dass viele Tuunwallen verschwunden sind. Mittlerweile werden sie geschützt und nicht nur die alten Tuunwallen werden instand gehalten, sondern es werden auch neue angelegt. Besonders auf Texel ist die Tuunwallenlandschaft gut erhalten.
