Breda ist eine Gemeinde der niederländischen Provinz Nordbrabant mit 184.706 Einwohnern . Sie besteht aus der Stadt Breda und den Dörfern Bavel, Prinsenbeek, Teteringen, Ulvenhout und Hazeldonk.Die Stadt Breda liegt an der wichtigen Handelsstraße Rotterdam – Antwerpen. Auto- und Eisenbahnen führen von Breda nach Tilburg, Roosendaal und Utrecht. In der Gemeinde kommen die Flüsse Mark und Aa of Weerijs zusammen, davon leitet sich der Name der Stadt ab: Brede Aa, also „Breite Aa“, weil der Fluss sich verbreitert.
