Leunen ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Venray in der niederländischen Provinz Limburg. Das Dorf hatte am 1. Januar 2021 2.265 Einwohner, verteilt über eine Fläche von 1003 ha und ist damit das zweitgrößte Kirchdorf von Venray nach Einwohnerzahl. Möglicherweise stammt Leunen von dem Wort "Loenen", was "ein schöner stiller Ort am Wasser" bedeutet. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte wurde dies zu "Luenen" entstellt und ist schließlich zu Leunen geworden. Auch die Straßennamen in Leunen haben ihren Ursprung und leiten sich von der Bedeutung von Wohngebieten und Bauernhöfen ab oder in einigen Fällen von markanten Personen oder Heiligen.
