In großen Teilen dieses Gebiets sind Konikpferde und Galloway-Rinder aktiv. Obwohl diese Tiere sanftmütig sind, solltest du dennoch genügend Abstand halten. Streichel oder füttere die Tiere auf keinen Fall, um aufdringliches Verhalten bei anderen Besuchern zu vermeiden. Die Tiere finden im Gebiet nämlich das ganze Jahr über ausreichend Futter und haben einen starken Herdeninstinkt. Limburgs Landschap vzw und Natuurmonumenten wollen mit diesen großen Weidetieren so viele natürliche Prozesse wie möglich in Gang setzen. Während die Tiere im Frühjahr das junge Gras fressen und so Platz für blütenreiche Kräuter schaffen, räumen sie im Winter Gehölze auf und knabbern an Zweigen und Bäumen. So entstehen wieder neue offene Flächen. Über ihr Fell verbreiten sie Samen. Ihr Kot ist wiederum eine Nahrungsquelle für Pflanzen und Tiere.
