Östlich des Leuchtturms an der Neuen Schleuse bei Breskens steht die Kardinale Boje West.
Diese Boje, die von Rijkswaterstaat auf unbestimmte Zeit der Stiftung Leuchtturm Breskens zur Verfügung gestellt wurde, ist in ihrer Ausführung die letzte ihrer Art und somit ein einzigartiges nautisches Objekt, das es verdient, für die Nachwelt erhalten zu bleiben. Und wo könnte man eine solche Boje besser aufstellen als in der Nähe des Leuchtturms! Die Boje ist eine willkommene Ergänzung zur permanenten nautischen Ausstellung im Leuchtturm, wo den verschiedenen Formen der Markierung auf der Westerschelde die nötige Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird.
