Der Gezeitentaucher ist ein Beispiel für Wassermanagement. Hier wird der Zu- und Abfluss des Meerwassers kontrolliert.
Im Gezeitenkanal befinden sich vier Betonrohre . Drei davon ermöglichen zweimal täglich den Zu- und Abfluss des Meerwassers in das hinter dem Damm liegende Naturschutzgebiet. Eine vierte Leitung ist über die Pumpstation mit dem Polderwasser verbunden. Dadurch wird überschüssiges Wasser aus den Gräben in Richtung Westerschelde abgeleitet.
Die Deiche entlang der westflämischen Küste wurden seit Beginn dieses Jahrhunderts verstärkt. Die Küste ist nun widerstandsfähig gegenüber den Folgen des Meeresspiegelanstiegs und erfüllt die neuesten Kriterien für den Hochwasserschutz.
