In den Bergen wird Salz und Erdöl gewonnen und es gibt erhebliche Handelsaktivitäten mit Agrargütern und Nahrungsmittelvorprodukten.Râmnicu Sărat befindet sich an der Europastraße 85 und an der Bahnstrecke Buzău–Mărășești.
