Norrköping ist eine Stadt in der schwedischen Provinz Östergötlands län und der historischen Provinz Östergötland. Die Stadt ist Hauptort der gleichnamigen Gemeinde und hat knapp 94.000 Einwohner .
Norrköping liegt an der Ostseeküste, unweit der Bucht Bråviken. Die Stadt wird vom Motala ström, dem wasserreichen Abfluss des Vättern, durchflossen, der hier nur Strömmen genannt wird. In der Stadt selbst bildet der Fluss, über den mehrere Brücken führen, bedeutende Wasserfälle und Stromschnellen, da er im Stadtgebiet einen Höhenunterschied von 22 Metern bewältigt. Die Stadt liegt auf Sedimenten, die sich über dem alten skandinavischen Felssockel des Baltischen Schildes gebildet haben. Im Norden, Osten und Westen der Siedlung breiten sich landwirtschaftliche Nutzflächen aus, während im Süden noch größere Waldflächen vorhanden sind.
