Istanbul ist eine türkische Provinz im Nordwesten des Landes, mit der Hauptstadt Istanbul. Ihre Fläche beträgt 5343,02 km².
Die offizielle Bevölkerungszahl der Provinz Istanbul betrug laut Volkszählung des Jahres 2009 12.915.158, wovon die Stadt İstanbul, deren Gebiet mit dem der Provinz Istanbul fast identisch ist, allein 12.782.960 Einwohner hatte. Im Jahr 2016 lag die Einwohnerzahl bereits bei 14.804.116 Einwohnern.
