Die Kathedrale Maria Königin im Norden Baltimores ist seit ihrer Vollendung im Jahr 1959 Bischofskirche für das römisch-katholische Erzbistum Baltimore.
Durch das Bevölkerungswachstum in Stadt und Region genügte die Kathedrale Mariä Himmelfahrt seit Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts nicht mehr dem Bedarf. Die finanzielle Grundlage für die neue Metropolitankathedrale stiftete der irischstämmige Großhändler Thomas J. O’Neill als Dank für die Bewahrung seiner Handelsniederlassung beim Stadtbrand von 1904. Im Oktober 1954 wurde der Grundstein für den Bau gelegt. Am 13. Oktober 1959 weihte Bischof Jerome Sebastian den Kirchenbau; die Dedikation erfolgte am 15. November desselben Jahres durch Erzbischof Francis Keough. Seither ist die alte Bischofskirche Konkathedrale.
