Die Stadt hatte entsprechend einer Schätzung im Jahre 2006 eine Einwohnerzahl von 8.270. Gegründet als Fischerein- und Holzhafen, ist heute vor allem der Tourismus der bedeutendste Wirtschaftszweig.
Über den Siuslaw River spannt sich eine elegante Brücke mit Art-déco-Elementen.
Unterhalb der Brücke liegt die restaurierte Altstadt mit alten Häusern und Plankenwegen.
