Der United-Airlines-Flug 93 wurde am 11. September 2001 als eine der vier Maschinen, die für die Terroranschläge in New York und Washington, D.C. benutzt wurden, entführt und stürzte aufgrund einer Revolte der Passagiere in der Nähe von Shanksville, Pennsylvania ab. Dabei starben alle 44 Menschen an Bord.
Der Flug United Airlines 93 wurde am 11. September 2001 mit einer Boeing 757-222, Kennzeichen N591UA, ausgelegt für bis zu 182 Passagiere, geflogen. Der Linienflug sollte planmäßig um 8:00 Uhr vom Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, zum San Francisco International Airport gehen.
