Im Weiler El Socorro gibt es zwei Kapellen. Die größte befindet sich an der Plaza del Socorro und wurde Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Diese kleine Kapelle am Ende der Cuesta del Socorro stammt aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert .
Die große Kapelle wurde zum Kulturerbe erklärt, unter anderem wegen ihrer Bedeutung für die jährliche Wallfahrt , an der jedes Jahr Tausende von Pilgern teilnehmen. Sie gilt als die älteste Wallfahrt im gesamten Kanarischen Archipel und ist zugleich eine der beliebtesten.
Die ursprüngliche Kapelle soll im ersten Drittel des 16. Jahrhunderts in der Nähe der Erscheinungsstelle der Jungfrau am Strand von Chimisay erbaut worden sein. Nach einer Zeit des Verfalls wurde die Kapelle Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts an anderer Stelle wieder aufgebaut. Diese kleine Kapelle wurde um 1915 an der Stelle errichtet, an der vermutlich das Original stand.
