Diese Büste wurde auf Initiative des Journalisten Leoncio Rodríguez González zum Gedenken an den Majorero-Dichter Domingo Juan Manrique (1869-1934) errichtet.

Es wurde vom Bildhauer Miguel Márquez Peñate geschaffen und am 27. Januar 1952 auf der Plaza del Adelantado eingeweiht.

Domingo Juan Manrique war ein kanarischer Schriftsteller , der 1869 in San Cristóbal de La Laguna geboren wurde und 1934 in Madrid starb.

Domingo Juan Manrique war Kalligraphielehrer am Institut der Kanarischen Inseln. Er war hässlich und sentimental und nahm an allen Poesiewettbewerben der Inseln teil. Das Gedicht El Mencey de Abona ist eines seiner bemerkenswertesten Werke.
