St. Jakob – Klammljoch

This ride starts at an altitude of 1389m in the village of St. Jakob in the Defereggental Valley. The tough 43km route through a region referred to as the "Tibet of East Tirol" is well worth it, though. Riders enjoy magnificent views and fantastic vantage points to stop and take in the surroundings. The ride climbs 890 vertical metres and includes gravel and tarmac sections.
Leaving from St. Jakob, riders can take either the road or the cycle path to Erlsbach. After passing the toll station in Patsch, the route continues along the tarmac road up to the Patscher Alm. The surface then turns to gravel and the trail winds its way via several hairpin corners up to the Oberhausalm, Seebachalm, Jagdhausalm and as far as the Klammjoch at 2288m altitude. Some of the climbs en route are challenging, but the many beautiful vantage points offering magnificent views are a fine reward.
