Mira Bridge

This bridge is linked to the movie Mira. Mira is a drama by Fons Rademakers based on the book 'De teleurgang van den Waterhoek' by Stijn Streuvels. Thanks to the construction of a bridge to the Scheldt, the Waterhoek hole finally seems to be getting out of its isolation. Mira's film shows how the old-fashioned hamlet deals with this modernization. With special attention to the free-spirited farmer's wife Mira (Willeke van Ammelrooy). She is forced to make a choice between two young men (Jan Decleir and Luc Ponette) who both ask for her company. 'Mira' was one of the first productions from the heyday of Dutch cinema at the beginning of the 1970s. This was a decade in which nudity was no longer shunned.
