The beautiful Renaissance castle with its immense domain, which is located along the Oude Schelde, came into the hands of the Marnix family in 1780. That name is of course associated with Filip de Marnix, Lord of Sainte Aldegonde and right-hand man of William of Orange. A permanent exhibition in the castle tells you more about the life of this man.
The castle is rich in art treasures such as paintings , furniture, lacework, Chinese porcelain and handwritten books. The outbuildings are furnished as a coach museum.
