Knokke-Heist has a rich agricultural and fishing history. The various districts have been shaped by the ebb and flow of the sea and the struggle of man with water. Since 1875, a metamorphosis into a seaside resort has taken place along the coast. You can discover it all at Sincfala, Museum of the Zwin Region.

In the visitor center 2000 years of the Zwin region, you embark on a journey through time. In an engaging way, you learn about the battle against the sea, the land reclamations, the wealth of the medieval Zwin ports, the wars, the urban developments of Heist, Duinbergen, Knokke, and Het Zoute, the emergence of tourism?

The history of fishing in Heist comes to life in the neo-Gothic, classified Old School Building (1899). Here, during the first half of the 20th century, fishers and fishermen attended classes. The presentations focus on life as a fisher at sea and on land, education, and folk life? On the attic floor, a series of ship models from Roman times to the present stands.

In the museum garden, a real shrimp boat, Jessica, is the main attraction. Other elements from fishing, agriculture, and the history of the Zwin region also have their place.

Sincfala is also a paradise for children. Upon entering, they can get changed and discover their own spots in old attire. The adventure begins with a funny cartoon of a little man traveling through the history of the Zwin region with his sheep.
