This reserve, located in the municipality of Westouter, is located in a complex of spring forests, moist spring and slope meadows and dry coulter soils on stony soil. In particular, the vegetation in such a gradient-rich environment is very varied and species-rich. In particular, the spring meadow (see photo) at the Brandersbos (marsh grassland) and the source forest vegetation of this forest are among the best developed vegetations of this type in the entire West Flemish hills.
