Protestant Rabot Church

This church, located at Begijnhoflaan 29 in GENT, is the church building of the United Protestant Church in Belgium: the Gent North Rabot congregation. In this church, several services take place every Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. for different Protestant congregations.

Indeed, several congregations make use of this church. This includes some congregations from Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (the Netherlands), as well as congregations of people of color, predominantly of the Black race, who hold their services in English.

If you love the typical traditional costumes from Senegal and other West African countries, you should come by on Sunday afternoon to take a look. It is always a very colorful gathering of optimistic people.

Not far from this church, under the entrance portal of the "Sastehuis," two memorial plaques were placed, reminding us of the brutal executions of Protestants and Calvinists in GENT. This occurred during the Spanish period on the orders of the "Iron Duke" Alva, during the reign of Philip II of Spain, under the pretense of keeping the Roman Catholic religion pure.
