Fort Eben-Emael, located in Belgian Eben-Emael just south of Maastricht, is a former Belgian military defense fort, built between World War I and World War II. At that time, it was considered the strongest fort in the world and was deemed impregnable. However, German attackers managed to disable the fort in record time, and after just one and a half days of siege, the fort had to capitulate.
