In the Mandel Valley lies the 'Blue Castle', a farm that was once called 'Goet Ter Mandere' and was the center of the eponymous lordship, dependent on the lords De Plotho from Ingelmunster. It is only in the 19th century that the farm is referred to as 'Blue Castle'. Above the door, you can still see the coat of arms of these lords. Later, this coat of arms was adopted by the municipality of Wielsbeke. The Blue Castle is also an important place in history.
In 1297, a peace treaty was signed here by emissaries of Philip the Fair, Edward I, and Guy of Dampierre.
Next, on Drogenbroodstraat, stands the birthplace of writer André Demedts. It is a renovated farm. Not far from here, in Wakken, you will also find the Provincial Domain Baliekouter, once owned by the castle lord of Wakken, but since 2004 a public domain.
Also, pay attention to the Cross Vandenhende, a memorial erected by the widow and children of Henri Vandenhende, exporter of draft horses, at the place where he was murdered in 1937. It is a cross with a central medallion referring to the murder.
