Saint Sebastian's Church

The Church

The St. Sebastian church is built on a hill, in the middle of the village. One can distinguish the successive construction periods here and there.

The tower from 1584 is the oldest element. It formed the western end of a dilapidated medieval church that was built here in the middle of the 16th century.

Only the ends, the tower, and the choir remain in place. The nave then takes on the shape we know today: a 4-bay nave with Tuscan columns, flanked by two side aisles.

Between 1760 and 1761 everything is once again on the verge of collapsing, and the choir and nave are rebuilt.

A few years later, the ceiling is finished in pieces.

The church preserves a historic organ from 1806 from a church in Liège that was demolished during the French Revolution. It dates from the first half of the 18th century and was built by craftsmen associated with the Liège school of "Le Picard."
