Legislative work and oversight of the Government
Composed of 75 Parliamentarians, the Walloon Parliament exercises legislative power within the limits of the territorial competencies of the Region. It also has a role in overseeing the Government, whose members are regularly held accountable for their actions and decisions before Parliament.
The openness of the debates
Unless otherwise decided by the assembly, all sessions are open to the public and to accredited members of the press. Every citizen may therefore attend the debates of Parliament, provided they respect certain decorum and security rules.
Since January 2009, those same sessions have been digitally archived and podcasted on the Parliament's website the day after the plenary meetings and within five working days for the committee meetings.
Accredited members of the press at the Walloon Parliament have access to a gallery in the plenary meeting room, benches in committee rooms, and a press room on the second floor, which are specifically reserved for them.
