Elsenborn is a village and a sub-municipality in the municipality of Bütgenbach in the Belgian East Cantons with approximately 950 inhabitants. Until January 1, 1977, it was an independent municipality. It is especially known for "Camp Elsenborn," an expansive barracks of the Belgian army located three kilometers from the village. This is one of the highest located villages in Belgium; the highest point of the municipality is at 635 m above sea level. The village is situated in a wooded area. To the northeast of the village lies the Schwalmbachtal nature reserve. The sub-municipality also has an extensive network of hiking trails and - in the season - of cross-country ski trails.
