The village center of Heikruis is located on the watershed ridge of the Zuun and Laubecq basins (two tributaries of the Zenne), which is also the highest point (+91m) of Groot-Pepingen. Nothing has been preserved of the original common or triangular village square at the T-junction of Neerstraat and Heikruiseplaats. Currently, Heikruis is a street village with the Ursuline monastery (with annexes such as a monastery farm) and the stone church of St. Bernardus on one side of the street and the rectory, cultural center, and several houses on the other side.
