Beschreibung

* Kalkaartweg nr. 12. Historical farmhouse known as "GROOT KALKAERTSLEEN" (cf. nameplate). Protected as a monument by M.B. of 10.06.2002. Site indicated on Ferraris map (1770-1778) as "Cense Groot Galekaers Leen"; military topographic maps from the 19th century mention "Kalkaertsleen Ferme". Well-preserved site from the 18th century on a slight elevation in the middle of a spacious rectangular embankment with willow rows to the north and west, located at a street bend. The estate access to the south (accessible via an asphalted driveway from the road) - formerly with a bridge - is marked by a cast-iron gate between square brick pillars provided with mirrors and a stone cover plate. A wall under a donkey back partially separates the orchard to the west from the estate. Brick well pit to the north behind the farmhouse. Low, anchored, and whitewashed brick components on a rough plinth bordering an estate with lawns, an asphalt strip, and largely preserved brick sidewalks. The two components from the 1920s are unpainted and thus very recognizable. To the north of the estate, a farmhouse of three bays + two bay windows with an adjacent stable under a gable roof (Flemish tiles) with a left wolf peak and slightly raised ridge at the level of the bay window. Arched stable door and climbing loading window, further adjusted rectangular wall openings. Angular 19th-century extension against the bay window so that the preserved original front door becomes an inner door. Partially preserved woodwork with green and white painted shutters. Adjacent right stable under a lower gable roof, possibly originally a cart shed cf. bricked-up arched gateway. Rear facade: original angular extension; barred cellar hole under wooden lintel and arched bay window with shutter hinges; extension of the stable under a slumped roof side. Preserved interior elements: staircase with baluster railing to the bay window, doors with preserved locks and handles including attic door with cat flap, cellar with barrel vault. To the west of the estate, perpendicular to the left stable, a transverse barn with a double cart shed and potato cellar (single-nave barrel vault) under a slumped gable roof (Flemish tiles). Arched gateway, rectangular cart shed doors to the right. Owl hole in the left side wall. Four preserved numbered truss beams. To the northwest of the stable and barn, aligned with the barn, a stable from the 1920s under a gable roof, rectangular openings recessed in arched niches; access gate between brick pillars. To the southeast of the estate, a milk house and pigsty from the 1920s, with a preserved brick doghouse to the south and a horse mill carcass from the second half of the 19th century (not yet marked on the P.C. Popp map circa 1850). Whitewashed octagonal brick building under a tent roof (mechanical tiles circa 1976 replacing straw); preserved walkway, king post and cap to protect the disappeared tail (measurements and sections in the inventory of L. Devliegher). DEPARTMENT ROHM WEST FLANDERS, Cell Monuments and Landscapes, archive no. 1811. DEVLIEGHER L., Horse mills in the West Flemish coastal area, Bruges, 1983, p. 318.
