Villas in Doris

* Seawall No. 177. So-called "VILLA DORIS" (cf. inscription in gilded letters). Protected as a monument by royal decree of 06.10.1980. Villa with front garden, enclosed between recent ten-storey apartment buildings. Building with neorococo slant of approx. 1899 designed by architect Albert Dumont (Brussels), cf. signature in the pedestal. Three bays, raised ground floor and three storeys under mansard roof (slates and zinc covering). Now painted bluestone parement. Marking loggia on the ground floor - accessible via landing -, and undulating bay window, extended above the cornice as a dome turret. Horizontal rhythm ring by means of extended leak thresholds, drip moldings and the cornice on bobbins. Decorative elements such as sculpted shells with incorporated sea motifs and framed casements. Arched windows; preserved woodwork with elaborate rod division in the skylights. Loggia elaborated with ornate door and window wall and faience wall decoration depicting wisteria; cast iron handrail.
