Villa Les Zéphyrs

Villa known as "LES ZÉPHYRS". Protected as a monument by M.B. of 30.05.2000, included in the village view of Westende-Bad (M.B. 17.04.1996). Rebuilt holiday home from 1922 for the military doctor Henri Muyshondt (Ghent), replacing the villa "mon abri" from 1902. Design by architect Oscar Van de Voorde (Ghent). Since the 1970s, it has served tourism. Double house of three bays and one and a half building levels under a gable roof (mechanical tiles). Adjacent garage on the left under a flat roof, with an overhanging awning. Yellow brick construction above a bluestone base. Arched door in a recessed profiled frame, accentuated by a projecting landing and low rounded bases. To the left and right of the door, three-sided bow windows under a roof of rounded artificial slate. In the half floor, a central oculus flanked by basket-arch windows fitted into a wavy roofline. Simpler rear facade with a central semicircular extension for the bathroom and staircase light. Service stairs to the basement kitchen in the right side facade. Preserved woodwork with small and segmented rod division, visible in the right side facade; stained glass in the transoms. Interior: well-preserved layout characterized by a central hallway with an entrance area and wooden staircase. Bathroom at the end of the hallway. Former living and dining area (right): art nouveau-tinted wooden base paneling with an adjacent buffet cabinet and fireplace; copper stove with outlining garland, fireplace breast covered with light blue tiles, built-in dumbwaiter in the left corner (partly recovery materials from a pre-war villa). Bathroom with granite flooring (mosaic border) and faience cladding of white tiles enlivened by a floral frieze; built-in bathtub in the semicircular wall, accessible via a small staircase. Basement floor consisting of a storage cellar (left) and kitchen (right) with white faience tiles and a frieze of white and blue tiles.
