The St. Vincent Church is a church in the center of the Belgian city of Eeklo. It is the parish church of the St. Vincent parish. The current church dates back to the nineteenth century and has had several predecessors, which have been destroyed or demolished over time.
As early as the 9th century, there are mentions of a 'prayer house' in 'Eclo', but we only hear about a real parish church when Eeklo received its city charter in 1240. The oldest existing document related to the church is a letter from 1379 from the then Count of Flanders, Louis of Male, to his lord, the French king. He writes about a very beautiful church with a tall tower. In the city archive, we first find data about the parish church in the 15th century.
