House, 4 place Saint-Denis

This imposing building from the first half of the 18th century is constructed over two and a half levels in brick and limestone on a bonded limestone base and encompasses an older core. The entrance is off-centre in relation to the seven bays of the façade and is highlighted by vertical bands that are counterbalanced by horizontal bands that extend from the uprights of the various window levels, including the mullioned windows in the attic. The broad door, undoubtedly from the 19th century is underneath a window converted into a door at the same time and edged by a balcony with a wrought iron railing inspired by the 18th century. The stone gable wall and rear façade show signs of alterations to the windows. A recent annexe conceals part of this wall. Stables, a carport and a sheltered garden complete the complex.
In addition to its overall appearance, the interior of the building also features two rooms with noteworthy decoration. There is a neoclassical salon entirely panelled in oak on the ground floor and a large drawing room, also neoclassical, adorned with stuccoes, as well as paintings depicting rural and romantic scenes, attributed to M de Lovinfosse.
