Snipgate Nature Reserve

On both sides of the Snaaskerkse Weidestraat in Gistel lies Snipgate: a historic meadow to pause and reflect. Here, you will find evidence that not all grass is just grass. Among the many grass species, bulrushes and sedges, as well as a whole host of other plants that indicate a saline soil, shine. The relief of these meadows is impressive and has never been altered by land consolidations that ravaged the polder lands elsewhere.
