You must not miss this impressive ruin! The castle, located on a steep rock, was once owned by Gwijde van Dampierre. In 1554, the fortress was plundered and burned down by the army of Henry II, the king of France, who was at war with Emperor Charles. Since then, Montaigle has been left to the whims of nature. In 1965, the Belgian government became the owner of this romantic ruin. It is 'exceptional Walloon heritage'. Enjoy the unprecedented beauty to the fullest!
