Behind the elegantly glazed display cases on both sides of the gate lie historical editions, old maps, and prints. Once inside, you enter a paradise for paper enthusiasts. The curved Bortier Gallery (1847) originally ran along the covered Magdalenamarket hall, which has been a concert hall of the City of Brussels since 2015. Under the glass roof are artistic benches inviting you to take a moment to relax. The human-scale architecture contributes to a sense of security. Despite the sacred silence in the specialized antiquarian bookstores and (especially French-speaking) second-hand bookstores, you do not feel lonely here.
