Metropolis

Metropolis is the former name of the Kinepolis cinema complex in the Belgian city of Antwerp. It is located in the Luchtbal district, in the northern part of the city, and opened its doors in October 1993. Starting in the summer of 2011, the name “Metropolis” was replaced by “Kinepolis Antwerpen,” in line with the other complexes of the cinema group. The characteristic pillars that bore the name “Metropolis” for 18 years were given a new inscription.
Kinepolis Antwerpen has 24 screening rooms with a total of 7,377 seats. The size of the rooms varies from 182 to 694 seats per room. All rooms have the THX certification, which guarantees quality sound and image. In room 3, there is the Barco Escape technology that utilizes three screens. Room 5 features a Barco Laser projector and Dolby Atmos sound system, which enhances the image and sound quality, while room 11 is equipped with an Auro 11.1 sound system.
